Before you buy

Limited sizing, modest battery life and basic workout tracking keep it behind more mature smart-ring platforms.

Amazfit Helio Ring takes a slightly different approach from many smart rings. Rather than trying to replace a fitness watch completely, Amazfit positions it primarily around sleep, recovery and readiness.

That becomes especially interesting if you already wear an Amazfit smartwatch. You can use the watch during workouts and wear Helio Ring overnight, with data from both devices feeding into the same Zepp app. Amazfit can even merge compatible watch and ring data for its recovery metrics rather than forcing you to manage two separate platforms.

For anyone who dislikes sleeping with a smartwatch strapped to their wrist, that’s probably Helio Ring’s strongest use case.

Design and Comfort

Helio Ring has an outer shell made from titanium alloy with a resin inner surface. It’s 8mm wide and 2.6mm thick, while weight ranges from just 3.65g to 3.82g depending on size. It also carries a 10 ATM water-resistance rating.

Those numbers translate into a very lightweight wearable. Both Tom’s Guide and TechRadar found Helio comfortable for extended and overnight wear, with TechRadar describing comfort as one of its strongest qualities.

The catch is sizing. Amazfit currently lists only sizes 8, 10 and 12, so this is one product where checking your finger size before ordering matters. The Amazon Canada listing itself recommends sizing before purchase.

Sleep Tracking Is the Main Attraction

Helio Ring can track sleep duration and stages including REM, daytime naps, sleep breathing quality and an overall Sleep Score. Amazfit also monitors sleeping resting heart rate and HRV, which feed into its recovery analysis.

The following morning, Zepp generates a Readiness score using factors including resting heart rate, HRV, breathing quality and temperature. The idea is simple: instead of throwing a page full of overnight measurements at you, the app tries to summarize how recovered you appear to be.

Real-world testing has been somewhat mixed, though. Tom’s Guide reported useful sleep insights and nightly heart-rate figures that lined up well with other wearables during testing. TechRadar also found its sleep tracking generally convincing. Wareable, however, found Helio frequently overestimated sleep duration and criticized the responsiveness of its Readiness score.

Health and Stress Tracking

There’s quite a lot packed into such a small device.

Helio Ring includes Amazfit’s BioTracker PPG sensor, a temperature sensor and an EDA sensor for electrodermal activity, alongside an accelerometer and gyroscope. It tracks heart rate, blood-oxygen saturation and stress, while Amazfit also includes menstrual-cycle tracking within the Zepp platform.

The EDA sensor is particularly interesting because Amazfit combines changes in electrodermal activity with HRV to estimate physical indicators associated with emotional stress. It’s better viewed as another trend to follow over time rather than a literal emotion detector.

It Isn’t Really a Workout Ring

Helio Ring can contribute fitness information, but Amazfit’s ecosystem is clearly designed around using a smartwatch for serious workout tracking and the ring for recovery.

Independent testing from Tom’s Guide found only a small selection of dedicated sports modes and no workout auto-detection, reinforcing the idea that Helio isn’t meant to replace a sports watch.

That’s actually a fairly sensible setup if you already own something like an Amazfit Balance, T-Rex or Cheetah. Wear the watch when GPS, workout screens and training metrics matter; switch to the ring when you want something almost invisible while sleeping.

No Subscription Is a Major Advantage

Amazfit says Helio Ring does not require an ongoing subscription for its core functionality. Helio Ring owners also currently receive Zepp Aura Premium access, including enhanced sleep reports, adaptive sleep sounds and its AI-powered wellness features.

That matters in a category where subscriptions can noticeably increase the long-term cost.

Battery Life

Amazfit rates Helio Ring for up to four days under typical use. Charging is wireless and officially takes around 1 hour 40 minutes.

Real-world reviews land in roughly the same territory. Wareable measured approximately 20–25% battery drain per day, while TechRadar saw about three and a half days with health tracking enabled. Four days isn’t terrible, but it’s one area where newer competitors with longer battery life have an advantage.

Price and Availability in Canada

There is one interesting wrinkle for Canadian buyers right now.

As of September 30, 2026, the Amazon Canada listing doesn’t show a normal featured offer for the selected Helio Ring listing. Marketplace offers shown on the page start at approximately CA$94.63 for size 8, CA$115.81 for size 10 and CA$134.69 for size 12, so availability and price depend heavily on size and seller.

Helio Ring is also still listed on Amazfit’s US store at US$149.99, with all three sizes shown on the product page.

So I’d avoid putting a fixed Canadian MSRP in the article. Something like “From around CA$95 on Amazon Canada at the time of publication” is safer, followed by your usual live-price button.

Who Should Buy Amazfit Helio Ring?

Helio Ring makes the most sense for someone primarily interested in sleep, HRV and recovery, particularly if wearing a smartwatch overnight is uncomfortable.

It becomes even more compelling for existing Amazfit users because the ring and compatible Amazfit watches can contribute data to the same Zepp ecosystem.

Someone wanting a smart ring to completely replace their sports watch, however, should temper expectations. Workout features remain one of the weaker parts of Helio experience.

Reader questions

Frequently asked questions

Does Amazfit Helio Ring require a subscription?

No. Amazfit says Helio Ring’s core functionality does not require a subscription. Helio Ring owners also currently receive Zepp Aura Premium access.

Does Amazfit Helio Ring work with iPhone?

Yes. Amazfit supports iOS 14 and later as well as Android 7.0 and later.

Does Amazfit Helio Ring track sleep?

Yes. It tracks sleep duration, light/deep/REM stages, naps, sleep breathing quality, resting heart rate and HRV, and generates Sleep and Readiness scores.

Is Amazfit Helio Ring waterproof?

The ring is rated to 10 ATM water resistance, equivalent to testing under static pressure corresponding to approximately 100 metres. That doesn’t mean it is designed for 100-metre recreational diving.

How long does Amazfit Helio Ring battery last?

Amazfit advertises up to four days of typical use, while independent reviews have generally reported around three-and-a-half to four days.

Can Helio Ring replace Amazfit smartwatch?

Not completely. Helio Ring is strongest for sleep and recovery, while an Amazfit smartwatch provides substantially more comprehensive workout tracking. Amazfit specifically supports using both together within the Zepp ecosystem.

Verdict

Rated Good

The Amazfit Helio Ring makes the most sense as a discreet sleep and recovery tracker — especially if you already use an Amazfit smartwatch. It weighs under 4 grams, tracks heart rate, HRV, blood oxygen, temperature, stress and sleep, and turns that information into daily sleep and readiness scores inside the Zepp app. Amazfit also includes Zepp Aura Premium access for Helio Ring users without requiring an ongoing subscription. Its biggest limitation is that this isn't really a fitness watch squeezed onto your finger. Workout tracking is comparatively basic, battery life tops out at around four days, and the choice of only sizes 8, 10 and 12 is restrictive. Independent testing has also produced mixed results for sleep and readiness accuracy, so the Helio works better as a recovery companion than as the unquestioned authority on your health
